Obituary For Victoria "Rita" Zupon

Victoria “Rita” Zupon, 100, Hastings, formerly of Patton passed away January 4, 2022 at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 28, 1921 in Patton, the daughter of Antonio and Theresa (Choby) Vescovi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael J. Zupon, son Thomas M. Zupon, son-in-law James Kucera, brothers John “Ed”, James Sr., and Anthony “Bud” Vescovi. She is survived by her daughter Diane Kucera, Johnstown, daughter-in-law Sondra Zupon, Patton and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Rita was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a graduate of Patton High School and a graduate of Nicks Academy of Beauty Culture. She was beautician for 20 years and worked at Bowman’s Department Store for 21 years. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, where she was a lector for 20 years, was on the Activities Committee, was the treasurer of the Altar Rosary Society and created Altar banners. Rita designed and constructed, with Mary Horne, all the banners for the Patton Centennial and was a committee member. She enjoyed swimming, walking and knitting. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Monday, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton.     Mrs. Zupon was a wonderful Girl Scout leader. I cherish my memories of those meetings. I have warm feelings for her.
