Rita M. Hilyer, 87, Patton, passed away March 20, 2022 at home. She was born November 17, 1934, in Altoona, the daughter of George F. and Dorothy C. (Holtz) Greiner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Richard Greiner, sister Connie Greiner and granddaughter Heather Owens. She is survived by children: Larry (Patty) Hilyer, Patton; Tom (Nora) Hilyer, Patton, Cindy (Dale) Dixon, Bellefonte; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers Ronnie (Puri) Greiner, Patton; Jerry (Barb) Greiner, Patton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 1952 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. Rita was a long-time employee of Veeder Root retiring after 39 years of service. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, Society of Manufacturing Engineers where she was International Director for several years, Patton Garden Club where she was president for years and overtime held several other offices and St. Vincent de Paul Society of Patton. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Wednesday, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
