Richard J. “Pete” Luzier, 81, Altoona, formerly of Patton passed away December 25, 2023 at UPMC Altoona. He was born September 29, 1942 in Uniontown, Pa, the son of Julius Ceaser and Flossie Mae (Helmick) Luzier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Chet and Ray Luzier; sisters Connie Luzier, Mary Bowman, Faye Morgan, and Vivian Major. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Dietrick) Luzier, whom he married July 22, 1967; children: Cathy (Brian) Myers, Patton; Edward (Shannyn) Luzier, Altoona; Gretchen (Jeremy) Dodson, Altoona; grandchildren: Bryanna, Zaine, Jaimz, Rachael, Dominic; great grandson, Colt; sister Barbara Johnson, Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Patton High School and Altoona School of Commerce. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as a Coal Miner from Mine 33 after many years of service. Pete was a member of the Church of God, Patton and UMWA. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, berry picking, reading and woodworking. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am until the noon Memorial Service, Friday, December 29, 2023 at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue, Patton, by Pastor Mick Akers. Interment at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Patton. Full military rites will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614.
