Obituary For Kenneth N. Bobby

Kenneth N. “Weo” Bobby, 70, Patton, passed away November 2, 2023 at home. He was born July 24, 1953 in Spangler, the son Nicholas and Helen (Karanik) Bobby. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother James “Metro” Bobby and many cousins. He was a 1971 graduate of Cambria Heights High School, Patton. He starting working when he was in high school at the local A & P in Patton, working on weekends and during the summer when school was out. When he graduated he went on working there till the store closed. While he worked there he got the nickname “WEO”. People started calling him that all the time from the advertising that the store did for promoting low prices. When the store closed he worked at the other grocery stores, Riverside and Giant Eagle as assistant manager. He then decided to become a route salesman for the potato chip industry. He started selling Middleswarth Potato Chips and other snacks for Greg Gallagher. He then moved on to work for Herr’s Potato Chips and then he moved on to work for UTZ Potato Chip Company, selling their products to the grocery stores, bars, clubs, etc. He then retired from UTZ, but he got bored in retiring so he went to work for Tri County Transportation, picking up school children and taking them to and from school. When he was done doing his van run, he then went to work part time 2nd shift for Cambria Heights Middle School as a custodian. He then had to retire because of medical issues. He was a member of the Patton Eagles FOE #1244, Patton Moose Lodge #488, a regular member of the Patton Slovak Club, social member of the Patton SOI and Patton American Legion. Ken enjoyed shooting pool in the pool leagues and playing cards when he had time to do it. He had long hours at his jobs, he was a very hard worker. Ken was well liked and had many friends. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 N. Fifth Avenue Patton. Panachida will be held 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home, by Fr. Roman Andriitso. Interment SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Patton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are request to SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Patton.
