John C. Grozanick, Sr.

November 1, 1950 – March 15, 2026

John C. Grozanick, Sr., 75, of Indiana PA went to be with the Lord very unexpectedly early Sunday morning at his home.

John was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Magdalene (Clark) Grozanick. On December 10, 1990 he married Rebecca L. Kasic.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years; his children: Jennifer Foley and fiancé Daniel White of Titusville, FL, Timothy Foley (Estefania Sepulveda Martinez) of Pittsburgh, John Grozanick, Jr. (Marina) of Katy, TX, William Grozanick (Harley) of Homer City, and Jaxson Rainey at home; a brother, William Grozanick (Pamela) of Patton; father-in-law, Dennis Kasic; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

John was preceded in death by a daughter, Mara and mother-in-law, Betty Kasic.

John graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1967 and then graduated from Penn State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Upon graduation, he then enlisted in the Army National Guard.

He worked with Barnes and Tucker Coal Company where he became a mine foreman. After 15 years in the mines he went into business owning and operating the Meadows Frozen Custard franchise in Indiana alongside his wife Rebecca. Together, they operated the very successful business for 30 years until retiring in 2019.

John was always big hearted, generous and kind and enjoyed people. He was always helping others by shoveling a neighbor’s driveway, building handicapped wheelchair ramps and helping his brother on the farm. He especially loved practicing baseball with Jax and taking him to swimming practice and meets.

John was also an avid fisherman, especially when accompanied by friends and family. He also enjoyed gardening and growing blueberries and apple trees. In his younger years, he was an avid weightlifter setting many records at Jake’s Gym.

John had a strong faith and a Christian heart. He attended Summit Church in Indiana.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Beaver Valley United Christian Church, 1768 Beaver Valley Road, Flinton, PA where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. by Pastor John Gray. Interment will be at Beaver Valley Cemetery.
