Obituary For James R. Crowell

James R. Crowell, 85, Ebensburg , formerly of Patton, passed away October 21, 2023, at Maple Heights Health and Rehab Center, Ebensburg. He was born June 15, 1938 in Kittanning, PA the son of Elmer W. and Elizabeth (Schall) Crowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia “Jean” (Polisky) Crowell, sisters Margaret Laskowsky and Shirley Middleswarth. He is survived by sisters Elizabeth (Allen) Edwards, Bowie, MD, Ruth (Joseph) Shevock, Patton, Mary (John) Gergely, Williamton, NC, Joan (Don) Snyder, Ebensburg and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Jim was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and retired from the PA Department of Corrections-SCI Camp Hill as a corrections officer after many years of service. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, was a 4th degree Knight, past Grand Knight of Patton Council Knights of Columbus and a member of Patton VFW Post 779. He enjoyed walking, fishing and spending time with Jean. Family and friends will be received Friday October 27th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 N. Fifth Ave. Patton where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 11 AM Saturday October 28th at Queen of Peace Church, Patton. Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton with full military honors accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Queen of Peace Church, Patton.
