Obituary For Greta M. Stevens

Greta M. Stevens, 88, Patton passed away February 27, 2021 at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 22, 1932 in Altoona, the daughter of Raymond J. and Florence M. (Crowell) Burkey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Stevens, who passed away January 7, 2011 and a brother in infancy, John. She is survived by her children Rev. Joseph E. (Linda) Stevens, Westover; Jeff R. (Laraine) Stevens, SC; Sally (Donald) Kirk, Patton and Suzanne (Donald) Fike, NC; twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Ed (Dorothea) Burkey, Lancaster and several nieces and nephews. Greta was a 1950 graduate of Patton High School. She was formerly employed at the Van Heusen shirt factory in Patton and later co-owned and operated Stevens Funeral Homes, Inc. in Carrolltown and Patton, for over fifty years with her late husband Joe. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling to and from their home in Patton to their winter home in Florida for several years. At Greta’s request there will be no visitation. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton by Rev. Jeremiah G. Lange, OSB. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Patton.
