Gary Lee “Hector” Helbig, 70, Patton passed away at home July 17, 2025. Born September 26, 1954 in Spangler, PA son of John and Caroline (Simmers) Helbig. He is preceded in death by parents; and brothers Irvan and Bobby Helbig. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Donna Mae (Flick) Helbig; daughter, Kimberly Penrod; son, Jason Helbig; 2 grandchildren, Michael and Jocelyn; Siblings, William “Bill” “DJ Wild Willie” (Regina) Helbig, Philip (Til) Helbig, and Kathy Helbig; and nieces and nephews, Mandy, Shannan, Cole, Travis, and Phil. Hector worked as a laborer at the mink farm and also did various farming jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed Johnny Cash, softball, listening to oldies music, playing ball with his son, and was a star pitcher of the Kuhns tavern softball team. Family and friends will be received Tuesday July 22, 2025 from 4-8 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Patton, 10004 North Fifth Ave, Patton. A service will be held Wednesday July 23, 2025 at 11 am at the Funeral home. Minister Gary Grau celebrant. Interment will be at Fairview cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are to be made to the Patton Fire Company. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Patton.
