Elizabeth Marie “Liz” Cihan

April 6, 1953-June 28, 2026

Elizabeth Marie “Liz” Cihan, 73, of Patton, passed away Sunday at Miner’s Medical Center. She was born in Colver, the daughter of the late Charles “Whitey” and Margaret “Peg” (Bobick) Gresko.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul R. Cihan, who passed on May 18, 2025; a sister, Marlene (Gresko) Price in 2020; a brother-in-law, Thomas Price in March of 2026; in-laws, Raymond “Rum” and Mary Eleanor (Long) Cihan and her loving pets.

Liz is survived by her beloved family, including her daughter, Brandy Cihan “Doozie” Evans (Peter Edward) of Middleton, Florida; twin grandchildren, Quinn Lux and Sloane Pax Evans; niece, Gretchen Marie Shub (Jon); great-nephews, Jack Thomas and Henry Charles Shub; sister, Mary Anne Fisanick (Edward Leonard); nephews, Christopher, Jonathan and Sean; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was a 1971 graduate of Cambria Heights High School and a 1974 graduate of St. Francis College, where Liz received her bachelor’s degree in education. She continued her studies at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned a master’s degree in education with extra studies to become a Reading Specialist.

Liz was employed by Glendale Area School District as an elementary school teacher for her entire career.

She enjoyed teaching her students; loved her husband, daughter and son-in-law; her grandchildren; and Liz especially enjoyed spending time with her family; reading; her pets, traveling and loved shopping.

Liz was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton American Legion Auxiliary, and Hastings Women of the Moose.

Family and friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, PA 16668, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 907 6th Ave., Patton, PA 16668, by the Benedictine Fathers. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton.

    Liz always enjoyed seeing the kiddos grow and play, even long after her career ended. She always made wonderful and kind comments about my kids, and said about how much she enjoyed seeing them head off to school in the mornings. She will be missed.
