Obituary For E. Ronald Macalus

E. Ronald Macalus, 85, Patton, Pa, passed away August 14, 2026 in Hastings. He was born September 18, 1940 in Patton, Pa, son of Michael & Minnie (Pasquale) Macalus.

Survived by loving wife, of 61 years, Judith (Stevens) Macalus, daughter Rhonda Macalus-Simanski, (Justin), Gallitzin, Pa and son, Ronald (Mary) Macalus, Port Matilda, Pa; grandchildren: Michael, Gregory and Ivy Macalus and Dean Simanski.

Ron was the last surviving member of his immediate family, preceded in death by brothers: Sam, Joe and Jim; sisters, Rose, Jenny and Elaine.

Ron was employed at Greenwich Collieries Mine for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He loved his family and he had a special love for his grandchildren. His smile and laughter will be in our hearts forever. He was a great sports fan, especially for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State. His will and determination were unmatched. He loved to cook, and his traditional Christmas Eve Italian feast will always be remembered. Honoring his wishes, there will be no viewing and services will be private.
