Obituary For Donald J. Weakland

Donald J. “Twin” Weakland Jr, 80, Patton, passed away December 31, 2022 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1942 in Spangler the son of Donald J. Sr. and Mary (Miller) Weakland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lois Gabor and brother John Miller. He is survived by his former wife Sally (Wagner) Weakland; daughters Lynn O’Connor, Aurora, CO, Lori Weakland, New Castle; son-in-law Bill O’Connor, Aurora, CO, granddaughter, Maelena O’Connor; twin brother Ronald F. “Twin” Weakland, Patton; brother Leonard “Lenny” Weakland, AZ; brother-in-law Thomas Gabor, Nanty Glo; and several nieces and nephews. Twin was a 1961 graduate of Cambria Heights High School and served with the US Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1968. He retired from Wolf Furniture Company after many years of service. He was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Patton and had recently been attending Patton Presbyterian Church and Hastings United Methodist Church. He was a member of Hastings VFW Post 1586, Patton Garden Club, and a lifetime member of Patton Fire Company. Twin enjoyed spending time with his family, helping others, volunteering, and gardening in his later years. And he did love taking his long walks! Family and friends will be received from 3 pm until the 6 pm funeral service Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 N. Fifth Ave. Patton, PA 16668. Rev. Ashley Weyant officiating. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. Full Military rites will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Patton Fire Company.     We offer our sympathy at Don's passing. He was a good friend to our Dad, Bernard "Barney" Niebauer, and helped look after him while he was at the Meadows. For that we are grateful. Eternal rest grant him, oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
