Obituary For Alvin G. "Jim" Spacht

Alvin G. “Jim” Spacht, 78, Patton, passed away May 7, 2023 at UPMC Family Hospice-Lawrenceville. He was born July 27, 1944 in Spangler, the son of John and Helen (Elliot) Spacht. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Truman “Carey” Spacht. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole (Chverchko) Spacht, whom he married November 27, 1965; children: Janine (Richard) Mickel, Murrysville; Gloria (James) Hoobler, Warrenton, VA; Mary (Francis) Angert, St. Boniface; grandchildren: Courtney and Jenna Mickel; Taylor (Spencer) Ferrell; Kyle (Kelsey) Hoobler; Jared and Jordan Angert; brothers: Cletus “Preston” (Evelyn) Spacht, Hastings; Carter Spacht, Nicktown; Alvin's loving dog, Dorothy and several nieces and nephews. He was a 1962 graduate of Cambria Heights and served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for many years, was a nurse’s aide at Laurel Crest Manor and Ebensburg State Center and a security guard for a Detective Agency. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton. Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. At. Alvin’s request, there will be no viewing. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. Full military rites will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Arthritis Foundation P.O Box 96280 Washington, DC 20077. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home Inc., Patton.
