Obituary For Mary Imogene Hoover

Mary Imogene Hoover, 84, Patton, passed away September 8, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 16,1935 in Patton, the daughter of Earl and Mae (Otto) Karlheim. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Diane Nuss; brother Russell Karlheim; infant sisters Anna and Marie and son-in-law Harry Peles. She is survived by her husband James Paul Hoover, whom she married December 29, 1956; children Cynthia (Dr. Bradley) Shollenberger, Birdsboro, PA; Theresa Peles, Hastings; Karl Hoover, Patton; Brenda (Steven) Bobby, Frederick, MD; Shirley (Gregory) Miller, Mercersburg, PA; Sharon (Randy) Fisher, Etters, PA; son-in-law Dave Nuss, Cortland, OH; fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a graduate of St. Francis College. Imogene was a teacher at St. Benedict and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools and a substitute teacher throughout Cambria and surrounding counties before retiring. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Altar Rosary Society, Patton Garden Club, Red Hats and the Banner Grange. She enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and gardening. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 10:00 am Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB. Committal St. Lawrence Cemetery.
